The relationship between cognition, affectivity, and learning has been widely debated
across different fields of knowledge, gaining particular relevance in Music Education,
especially when considering children’s musical experiences in school contexts and their
implications for learning processes. Within this theoretical framework, the present literature
review is situated as part of a doctoral research project in Music aimed at understanding how
the interactions between affectivity and cognition influence the musical learning of children in
the early years of Elementary Education.
This review considered Brazilian and international publications produced between 2016
and 2021. For the purposes of this specific section, however, only studies identified through the
CAPES Periodicals Portal are presented, using both general and advanced search strategies with
previously defined descriptors. The initial search yielded 28 articles, of which 9 were selected
after careful reading and analysis.
