This article presents the results of an undergraduate thesis that aimed to investigate the influence of music on the cognitive development of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and how Music Education activities contribute to these children in both musical and extra-musical aspects. The research was conducted at the Municipal Reference Center for children with ASD in the city of Feira de Santana, involving three children aged between 6 and 8 years old. A mixed-methods approach with an exploratory sequential design was employed, utilizing various data collection techniques, including the implementation of music classes, the application of the Musical Development Scale for Children with Autism (DEMUCA), questionnaires, interviews, video recordings, and the evaluation of class excerpts by specialized professionals. The results indicate significant development in musical skills, as well as improvements in extra-musical aspects.
